I HAVE read some crazy comments and debates over the years within the ‘Great Yarmouth Mercury’ but nothing that has troubled me as much as the ridiculous rambles of Dinah Holt of Gorleston.   Dinah mentions that on a number of occasions as she has attempted to hail a bus with it ‘sailing’ past her apparently ignoring her. In the first incident Dinah mentions that she was standing only three yards from bus stop when she endeavoured to hail the bus, as Dinah was not standing within the confines of the stipulated ‘bus stop’ she was in fact attempting to distract the driver and could have caused a road traffic accident.   In the second incident described, Dinah was stood within the designated bus stopping area but the bus did not stop. This could have been caused by a number of contributing factors; the bus driver could have been distracted by some unruly children sat upon the top deck of the bus, whilst wrestling against a strong North Sea winds as his double decker bus hurtled along (within the legally required speed limits), avoiding the traffic the bus driver could have spotted you at the last second and mistaken you for a serial killer that he had seen on Crimewatch only the evening before (or possibly an ex Mother-in-law, as I am sure you can understand the same sense of fear is sparked with wither of the afore mentioned). With all of this happening in only a fraction of it is clear why the bus continued to sail past you.                                                                           MATTHEW THOMSON                                                                                                                    Beccles
